After the engine got a good flooding at Brikiln it was refusing top start, but after a lot of fiddling we managed to get it runnning very roughly and kept getting low oil pressure.
We figured the water had damaged something and went to stop the engine we heard a loud bang.
Turns out a big end bearing had worked loose allowing a piston ring to jam up on the top of the block, so when the crank was pulled back down it ripped the piston in half (see last picture).
Amazingly no damage to crankshaft, conrod or cylinder bore. So should just mean dropping a new piston in. |
